Evidence and Examples

  1. Competency 2: Engage Diversity and Difference in Practice

During my field placement, I actively engaged with diverse practice environments and contributed meaningfully to a range of organizational initiatives. I supported the agency's mission by conducting research for its nonprofit programs, integrating findings into the internal system mapping tool to inform ongoing project development and strategic planning.

This experience required thoughtful navigation of varied cultural, social, and professional contexts. In accordance with Competency 2 of the Council on Social Work Education (2015), I maintained clear professional boundaries while recognizing the limits of my scope as a student intern. I approached each interaction with humility and empathy—toward others and myself—acknowledging that learning to engage across difference is both a professional responsibility and a personal growth process.
